If you have an EBT card, you know how difficult it can be to remember where you can and cannot use it. Some stores accept EBT cards, while others do not. Furthermore, state laws govern what you can and cannot buy with these cards.

Does Costco take EBT cards?

Yes! Costco receives EBT cards. All Costco stores around the globe accept EBT cards, but some things can not be purchased with an EBT card.

Can I use my EBT card online at Costco?

No! Unfortunately, EBT Cards are not accepted on the Costco website.

Do I Have to be a Costco Member to Use my EBT Card?

Yes! You must be a Costco member to use an EBT card.

What can I do when I am not a Costco member?

If you have a Costco member friend, ask them to buy you a Costco cash card for an agreed-upon amount and then repay them. Repaying them is as simple as withdrawing cash from your EBT card’s “Cash Account” at any ATM.

Can I Shop With a Member, But Use My EBT Card?

Yes! You can definitely shop with a family member or friend and use their Costco card for entry, but pay with your EBT card. The cashier will scan the Costco membership card, pay with your EBT card, grab your receipt, and head out the door.

Is a Costco employee allowed to match the names of the card?

No! Costco does not ask cashiers to match the name on the membership to the name on the card being used to pay.

What can I purchase at Costco with EBT?

According to the USDA, here are the main things you CAN buy with your EBT card at Costco.

  • Meat, Fish, Chicken
  • Fruits and Vegetables
  • Dairy Products
  • Bread and cereal
  • Non-Alcoholic Drinks
  • Snack Foods
  • Seeds and Plants for your Garden

What can I not purchase at Costco with EBT?

There are some restrictions for using an EBT card; the items which can not be purchased with an EBT are mentioned below:

  • Alcohol – Beer, wine, and hard liquor.
  • Tobacco Products – Cigarettes and chewing tobacco.
  • Health Products – Vitamins, medicines, and supplements.
  • Live animals – Except shellfish, fish removed from the water, and animals slaughtered before pick-up from the store

How Do I Buy both approved and non-approved EBT items?

It’s doable if your Costco purchase includes both approved and non-approved EBT items, but you must be organised. I recommend separating the items in your shopping cart and making two separate purchases.

Is it worthwhile to join Costco in order to save money?

A Costco membership currently costs $60; if you know which items to buy, the savings are well worth it. However, if you go into Costco without a plan, overspending is very easy.

Costco is the master of deceiving your brain into thinking you’re getting a good deal, so compare prices with your local grocery store. Fortunately, the way Costco checkout aisles are set up, you can’t see what payment method the customer in front of you is using, so you have nothing to worry about, in my opinion.

Is there a different return policy for EBT purchases?

No. All EBT purchases are subject to the same excellent Costco return policy. This policy includes food and grocery items. If you are dissatisfied with an item, you can return it to Costco at any time for a full refund or exchange.

Can I use my EBT card at the Business Centre?

Yes! You’re good to go as long as you buy EBT-eligible items from the Costco Business Centre. Snack foods, non-alcoholic beverages, and meats are among the EBT-eligible things the Business Centre sells.

Can I Use My EBT Card to Order Costco Groceries?

No! Costco recently launched a new at-home grocery delivery service, but because you must use the Costco website to place your order, you can not use your EBT card to make your grocery delivery order.

Costco members are provided with the best opportunity of using their EBT cards on purchases of items like Meat, Fish, Chicken, Fruits and Vegetables, Dairy Products, Breads and Cereal, Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Snack Foods, Seeds and Plants for your Garden. Costco accepts EBT cards in their stores all around the world.
